Reima brings professional layering to kids’ wear

The Finnish kids’ functional outdoor clothing brand Reima® leads the way in dressing kids for activities all year round. The harsh Finnish climate has for over 70 years inspired Reima to search for optimal solutions. Reima offers kids gear not only from tip to toe, but also to be worn underneath and in between. For AW’17, the core of Reima’s collection is based on professional layered dressing.

As Finland celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2017, Reima dives in the magic of Lapland. Lores of northern Scandinavia inspire Reima designs for the autumn/winter season. Lapland also plays a big role in Reima’s AW17 consumer promotion where kids all over the world can join the centennial celebration.

ReimaGO® – Wearable tech for kids’ health

Reima has developed a way to help parents understand the level of their kids’ physical activity. Together with Suunto, the leading brand for sports watches, dive computers and sports instruments used by adventurers all over the globe, Reima has developed the ReimaGO® concept. It consists of a wearable activity sensor that tracks kids’ physical activity. A playful app reads the sensor and motivates kids to be active, and users can attach the sensor to Reima garments. Reima launched the concept in autumn 2016, and in Autumn/winter 2017 season there are ReimaGO pockets in a wide range of Reima products. The free app is downloadable from Apple App Store. The Android version will be available in Google Play around April 2017.

Professional layering: comfort starts at skin level

Reima layered dressing concept is designed for three different levels of physical activity: high, moderate and low. The product graphics are colour-coordinated to quickly and easily show, which group the product belongs to.

  1. The base and mid layer garments for high physical activity and sports will offer the best moisture-wicking properties. They will keep the skin dry and let moisture evaporate to the outside.
  2. Base layer garments for everyday comfort will wick moisture away from the skin, yet feel and look like regular shirts or leggings – great to be worn at school or in day care.
  3. When not moving very much, for example when walking out on frosty days or camping in cold conditions, one should choose the warmest base layer sets. They contain wool, which is known for its superior thermal properties, and will be warm even when moist. Wool is the best choice for babies and toddlers, too.

Street-smart, warm blue jeans

Many think jeans are too cold to act as outerwear in autumn and winter. Now it’s time we change those beliefs. Reima introduces warm Thermolite® jeans for kids: the hollow Thermolite® fibre has very good insulation capability. The reverse of the fabric is brushed fuzzy, to capture even more warming air against the skin. With quick-dry and moisture-wicking properties, Reima Thermolite® jeans are THE kids’ jeans for autumn and winter.

Splash-proof & washable shoes

Reima introduces several washable footwear styles for autumn, such as the best sellers waterproof Reimatec® shoes Wetter and Patter. In winter shoes and boots, warmth and good grip play an important part. Reima has included a removable, washable, highly insulating textile inner boot in many styles.

Easy-care – and better for the planet

Waterproof and breathable Reimatec® all-weather wear forms the core of Reima® collection. Reimatec® garments, shoes and accessories keep toddlers, kids and juniors dry and comfortable in any weather.  Finished entirely without fluorocarbons, the product range is non-toxic and meets the easy-care demands of today’s busy parents.

Multi-functional wear from autumn to winter

Reima offers several 3-in-1 jacket styles with detachable linings that one can also use on their own. Also the 3-in-1 mitten style Olhava deserves to be mentioned here: you can use the waterproof, breathable shell mitten, or just the inner fleece mittens, or both together.

A bright idea: reflective mittens

The new Vilkku winter mitten is reflective and visible 360 degrees. It has warm insulation and will not let water through even during the most hectic snowplay. A toddler or kid wearing these mittens will surely not go unnoticed!
