Those who spurn half-measures when it comes to winter footwear will be happily met with Viking Outdoor Footwear’s latest hiker that goes “all in” with premium features and circular design. The Constrictor IceGrip Warm GTX is essentially a redesign of a popular model and the latest version retains some of the signature features of its predecessor, such as a high cut topped with an integrated gaiter to keep the snow out, with some clever updates, like a molded heelcap for snowshoes and a much sleeker, more modern look.
But the real news is in the marriage of the three top-tier waterproof, grip and insulation technologies.

Here, the Constrictor IceGrip Warm GTX features the most advanced, non-spike cold-weather gripping system to date known as Vibram Arctic Grip, which unites specially engineered rubber technology with large surface lugs to provide excellent grip on icy surfaces.
This outsole then combines with a comfortable and lightweight EVA midsole that provides shock absorption, and a heat-reflective insole that provides insulating protection against the cold ground beneath. That’s not the end of the insulation story, however. The Constrictor IceGrip Warm GTX also features the best-in-class PrimaLoft Gold Insulation, offering lightweight insulation that is especially suited for footwear, being designed to provide warming insulation following repeated compression over time.
The PrimaLoft insulation is also bluesign and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 approved and made using 100% Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified recycled materials, earning this pair of hikers a designation among Viking’s Less Impact Products.
