Scandinavian trekking demands uncompromising equipment. For 2018, Lundhags launches a new series of hardcore trekking packs for the most challenging conditions, as well as a complete range of versatile daypacks for everyday use.
We know that Scandinavian trekking demands uncompromising equipment. We make a choice in every detail of our products. And in these choices, we always believe in prioritising durability and function ahead of low weight. With our new backpack series for 2018, our focus on sustainable and hard wearing materials as well as repairability is clear.
The design and construction of the new series of backpacks from Lundhags is based on our collective experience and know-how from years of year-around outdoor activities. If our products work in the most challenging, cold and windy conditions, such as when glove-friendly operation is a must, they will also work during the summer.
– My vision was to make backpacks where simplicity and natural would permeate the function, feel and look, says Håkan Nyström, Hardware Designer at Lundhags. The Nordic look, the true outdoor experience and the long lasting and sustainable approach to a product’s lifecycle guided me in the design and development of our new line. With sustainable, timeless and hardwearing backpacks that are usable in the harshest conditions, now tightly aligned with footwear and clothing, I feel confident with the result.
Our backpack materials are carefully selected to match our sustainability criteria. Several materials are bluesign approved, and we use ecological cotton and recycled polyester for our series Gneik and Gnaur. All our packs are fluorocarbon-free. The long-lasting properties that will endure over several years of usage are just as important. Hence, our approved materials have undergone stringent performance tests in real life and in the laboratory.
The new collection extends from pure trekking packs to urban commuting packs. At one end, we have the flagship Gnaur, an advanced and durable trekking pack in 60-90 litre size intervals, for longer and demanding tours. The smaller and technical Gneik series is developed for shorter tours and is offered in 34-54 litre volumes. The trekking packs are available in back lengths “Regular Short” and Regular Long”, where the customer’s anatomy determines the choice. The daypack series comprises everything from smaller, functional daypacks to pared down communting packs. All with computer compartments, for the everyday user.
The product names, for example Gnaur, Gneik, Kliiv and Knul, originate from the “Jamtish” dialect, a local language from Jämtland, where Lundhags is born.
