Primary innovation features

The outer material ecodear™ by TORAY is made from 30 % plant based polyester – a milestone in the development of resource-saving plastics and the utilization of renewable resources instead of fossil oil. The fabrics performance however is still on top as its features and the chemical structure of the polyester are identical with conventionally produced polyester. ecodear™ uses molasses, a waste product of the sugar production.

Weatherproof and highly breathable all-round outdoor jacket.

Specific features:

3-layer Dermizax® with ecodear™ plant-based polyester: waterproof, windproof and highly breathable, long ventilation zippers, fully adjustable hood which fits even with a helmet on, pockets in mesh for more breathability and ventilation.

By using ecodear™ the Eidfjord Jacket is a step in the direction towards fully plant-based polyester, which TORAY is planning to make available for mass production in a few years. The outer fabric of the 3-layer Eidfjord Jacket is made from 30 % plant-based polyester, saving energy, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and conserving fossil oil resources. ecodear™ plant based polyester can be recycled.
