VIKING OUTDOOR FOOTWEAR
CONSTRICTOR III BOA
DESIGN: TORILL FLYEN
MOTIVATION FROM THE JURY
Continuous improvements make the Constrictor III Boa from Viking one of the greatest winter boots out there. One of the highlights is the insole of Primaloft Aerogel, a material developed for Nasa Space suits that insulates better than foams normally used. While snowshoeing it felt very comfortable and kept the feet toasty warm.
PRIMARY INNOVATION FEATURES
The upper is made in PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation, best-in-class insulation designed for repeated compression and durability over time. Featuring 90% post-consumer recycled fibers made from plastic bottles. This keeps the wearer 38% warmer in dry conditions and 2X warmer when wet than competitive insulation. Insole in PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Aerogel shines when faced with the pressure caused by active hands and feet, retaining 98% of its original thermal performance. When used in combination with PrimaLoft® Insulation products, an optimal balance of weather protection and heat retention provides comfort ideal for the mountain.
INTENDED SPECIFIC END USE
Suitable for any outdoor activity in cold snowy weather. Perfect for activities like hiking, playing outside, dog sledging and all of the “sport parents” who spend hours outdoor just waiting while they support the kids in their outdoor sport.
Thanks to the PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation your feet will be kept warm all day long regardless activity. Constructed with Boa® system lacing for easy closure and adjustment on and off, even with your gloves on. The reflective overlay makes the visibility optimized during the dark season. The shoe is in a synthetic textile, rubberized mudguard and of course waterproof.
With small baby steps Viking is working for an openness and transparency in everything they do. In just this particular product they have worked with the PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation, which is made by 90% recycled post-consumer fibers from plastic bottles. A good step on the way!
